Education: Green never goes out of fashion What do you do with an award-winning school program? Recycle it, of course. Especially at Waccamaw Intermediate School where Gators Go Green, a fashion show and environmental education program, returns Feb. 9. Last year's event drew hundreds of students and their families to kick-off a school-wide environmental initiative. I also drew a first-place award from PTO Today magazine as the year's "Outstanding Family Event." In the spotlight was a fashion show in which students and teachers wore creations made from recycled materials. They'll be back on the runway for this year's event, which begins at 6 p.m. in the school's multi-purpose room. There will be a dinner afterward and displays of green ideas from Fisher Recycling, Santee Cooper, MyEco, Georgetown County Environmental Services and Waste Zero.
