News updates Sports: WHS golfers clinch spot in state tourney By Roger Greene Coastal Observer The Waccamaw High girls golf team turned in a fourth place performance at the Class AAA Lower State golf tournament on Monday at the International Club in Murrells Inlet. The Warriors total of 353 qualified them for next week's state tourney, which will be held at the Hackler Course on the campus of Coastal Carolina University on Oct. 22-23. Anna Montgomery fired an 82 to lead the Warriors efforts. Stephanie and Daniella Royer also posted sub-90 rounds, Stephanie finishing with an 85 and Daniella shooting an 89. Connor Graham added a 97 for Waccamaw. Waccamaw had finished ninth in the event the last two years, missing the cut line by one. Hartsville won Monday's tourney, finishing with a team total of 333.
