Development: No plans reported for Litchfield property
By Charles Swenson Clearing on 4 acres between Litchfield Landing and Retreat Park this month is preparing the tract for development, but no plans have been submitted, according to Georgetown County planning staff. The property is owned by Lynndale Apartments, which is part of Guy C. Lee Manufacturing of Smithfield, N.C. The county issued a permit for the clearing in May. “They wouldn’t say what they are planning to do,” said Boyd Johnson, the county planning director. Calls to Ross Lampe, president of Guy C. Lee, a lumber and millwork company, were not returned. The property is zoned “general commercial,” so residential development would require a zoning change, Johnson said. “We don’t have any plans for what they are actually going to be putting there,” said Steve Strickland, president of the Earthworks Group, which did the engineering work for the county permits. “They said they’re preparing it for a future project.”
