History: Plantation tour tickets available

This is the last week to order tickets for the 65th annual tour of historic homes around Georgetown County. The plantation tours are March 23 and 24.

The tours include 26 plantations and homes, most listed on the National Register. The Friday tour covers the Santee and Winyah Bay area as well as three homes in Georgetown. On Saturday, the focus shifts to the Pee Dee and Waccamaw River plantations.

The tours are organized by the Women of Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church, and the tours open at 9 a.m. at the church where maps and brochures are available. There will also be music performances at the church at noon both days. The tours finish at the Winyah Indigo Society Hall, where tea is served each day beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40 for each day or $75 for both days. The deadline to order advance tickets is March 9. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door each day.

For more information and to order tickets, go to the parish website or call Lisa Collins at 545-8291.
