Arts: Beatles tribute may raise curtain on future performances

Following the success of a collaboration between Brookgreen Gardens and the Flat Rock Playhouse last weekend, the relationship between the organizations is expected to continue.

Bob Jewell, president and CEO of Brookgreen, spoke with the director of the playhouse on Monday and they “both agreed this is a direction we would like to go in if we can make it all work,” Jewell said.

The playhouse performed “Here, There and Everywhere: A Tribute to The Beatles” at Brookgreen on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was part of the gardens’ 80th anniversary celebration. All three shows were sold out.

Jewell said the show exceeded his expectations and the playhouse director was also pleased.

“It was a tremendous start, which could lead the way to more opportunity for both organizations,” Jewell said.
