Tourism: Meredith Hart picked as marketing director

From Staff Reports
Coastal Observer

A former television marketing assistant who has worked for three of the area's ad agencies will be Georgetown County's first tourism marketing director.

Meredith Hart was named to the job late Sunday by Annette Medlin, president of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber provides staffing for the county Tourism Management Commission. Hart was hired by the chamber with funds provided by the county for tourism marketing. She will work exclusively for the commission.

Medlin interviewed four candidates for the position last month and picked Tee Miller of Georgetown, an economic development and business strategy consultant, and Hart, a community liaison with WBTW News, as the top two.

Commission members didn't interview the candidates, but they sent their recommendations to Medlin, said Helen Benso, who chairs the commission. She said Hart's experience with LHWH Advertising, DSL Services and Collins + Company in advertising and public relations makes her a good choice for the position.
