Detectives are on the case of a mystery in Murrells Inlet. This one is not “elementary.” Pollution detectives are trying to unravel the source of fecal coliform bacteria that has been closing the shellfish beds in the inlet for decades.
Before the developer of the Harmony tract outside Georgetown filed for bankruptcy in 2008, he asked the county to call in his letter of credit to finish the infrastructure in the 800-acre project. There was about $700,000 available.
The Coastal Montessori Charter School and the University of South Carolina Development Foundation are $400,000 apart on a proposal to buy a permanent site for the school at the Prince George tract, charter board members say.
A series of planned safety improvements will make it more difficult to get into Georgetown County schools.
U.S. 7th District Rep. Tom Rice says the federal government is its own worst enemy when it comes to infrastructure.
